Micky van de Ven scored on two occasions as Tottenham extended their unbeaten run in away games in the Premier League and delivered the Toffees their initial loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton were unbeaten in their last five matches at their new ground at the dockside location, having departed their historic home behind after more than a century at the end of the previous campaign.

But Tottenham's leader the Dutchman struck twice from corners in the first half to place their strong form at jeopardy, and they were unable to mount a comeback before Pape Matar Sarr - assisted by ex-Everton forward Richarlison - headed home a final goal to seal the victory.

The Merseyside club remain in 14th position and sit six points ahead of the drop zone.

Following a drab weekday performance in the Champions League against the French side, where they mustered a only attempts on target, the manager chose the French striker in attack instead of former Toffees player the Brazilian.

Everton's new home had been a fortress, but it appears the novelty may have worn off slightly and supporters flocked to the exits after the midfielder's third for Tottenham.

The end in Everton's unbeaten home run won't be a massive concern for David Moyes, but their attacking woes will be.
